Legado Wins Top Award - July 17th, 2007

Legacy of living large is amazingly affordable
By Dagmar Bohlmann

When a championship golf course, tennis, fine dining and beautiful homes blend together, a dream-like resort lifestyle is born that only few can afford for longer than an annual vacation. At Legado, Northern Nevada’s masterfully planned community in Dayton Valley, living life to its fullest every day of the year is a reality for many that is surprisingly affordable.

Award-winning Community

“When people discover Legado they are amazed that we can offer this incredible lifestyle at prices starting at just $208,900,” said Marcia Neese, marketing director for Lakemont’s Nevada division. “It’s great to see that the word is getting out about the affordability of this incredible community. In fact this summer the readers of Nevada Magazine named Legado ‘Nevada’s Best New Home Development under $400,000.’”

With 360-degree views of the snow-capped Sierra and just minutes from the crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe, Legado offers a variety of new home styles coupled with numerous fun activities and entertainment for diverse age groups and lifestyles.
Legado’s Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club, with its 18-hole, Arnold Palmer-designed championship course, is considered one of the Divine Nine golf courses in Northern Nevada.

Featuring a pro shop, fine dining restaurant, the more casual Legado Sports Bar & Grill, a large patio for outside dining overlooking the golf course and a huge banquet facility for weddings and special events, the clubhouse at Legado is quickly becoming “the place to dine” in Dayton. Its restaurants feature savory food prepared by Leo Mordhorst, Legado’s world-renowned chef.

“Because we are home to Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club, a lot of people think our clubhouse is private for Legado residents and members only. But, in fact, we are open to the public as well,” said general manager Fred Olsen, proudly announcing that the course won Nevada Magazine’s ‘Best Rural Golf Course in Nevada’ award for the second consecutive year.

Homebuyers Save Big on Charter Memberships

“Membership to Nevada’s award-winning resort destination just got even more affordable,” said Debbie Hubert who directs the Lakemont Nevada sales team. “For a limited time, Charter Membership initiation fees to the Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club have been reduced to $6,000 for new homebuyers at Legado and Lakemont will pay $2,000 toward that fee bringing our new homebuyers’ portion down to only $4,000.”

“As Legado matures, the Club Legado Sports Complex will become the cornerstone and activity center for the community,” said Greg Peitzmeier, president of Lakemont Homes Nevada division. When complete, the sports club will offer tennis, swimming, fitness center, spa, basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers, outdoor showers and Camp Legado, a sports and activity program for children.
“Typically these facilities require initiation fees.” Peitzmeier said. “However, with a home purchase, we will waive the fee as our current incentive for new homebuyers.

“The Legado lifestyle gives the homeowner the ability to save hundreds of thousands of dollars when compared to similar master-planned communities in Northern Nevada,” he said. “Homebuyers are driven to Legado, not only because it is a premier resort destination community, but because they realize the superior value.”

Homes for a Variety of Lifestyles

With 13 decorated models, 22 floor plans and endless entertainment options, the broad appeal reaches homebuyers of all levels — young couples, growing families or empty nesters. Home choices include entry-level homes, luxury custom home sites, and even homes for pilots with private hangers in Airpark Estates fly-in community that feature taxiway access to Dayton Valley Airpark’s runway.

“We’ll soon be breaking ground on Lakemont’s trademarked age-exclusive community for homebuyers over 55,” Peitzmeier said. “This will be yet another facet to this high-desert community where playtime never ends.”
